Staten Island Republican Party Executive Committee Endorses Candidates for Office

Posted in:Newsroom.

Last night, Brendan T. Lantry, Chairman of the Richmond County Republican Committee (SIGOP), convened a meeting of the SIGOP Executive Committee to conduct interviews for state and local offices. The Executive Board traditionally interviews both candidates and incumbents alike in order to make a recommendation to the full County Committee for the Party’s endorsement. Tonight, the Board made the following recommendations and endorsements:

Marc Molinaro for Governor of New York State;

Ron Castorina for Richmond County Surrogate Court Judge;

Nicole Malliotakis for the 64th Assembly District;

Michael Reilly for the 62nd Assembly District.

“As Andrew Cuomo’s approval rating continues to plummet and he faces a fierce primary challenge from the left, the time is ripe for a dynamic Republican challenger to return sanity and accountability in Albany. Marc Molinaro is a proven leader and exactly the dynamic candidate we need to rescue our state from the job-killing, tax-and-spend policies of Andrew Cuomo and the culture of corruption running rampant in Albany,” Chairman Lantry said. “I am proud to have known Marc for many years, as his work ethic and integrity are unmatched, which is evidenced by his success in growing the economy, cutting wasteful spending, and creating jobs as Dutchess County Executive. Marc will make a phenomenal Governor for our state and the residents of Staten Island.

“As always, we will field a strong local slate of candidates. We are fortunate to have Nicole Malliotakis and Michael Reilly to carry our banner for the State Assembly. Nicole has been a fearless advocate for Staten Island, and I know she will continue to make us proud. Mike is a longtime community leader, retired NYPD Lieutenant, and he has made his own mark in our borough by fighting for Staten Island’s public school children. They will make an excellent team in Albany.

“We always seek to run qualified candidates for office, and with Ron Castorina running for Surrogate, we have that in spades. Ron is a brilliant attorney, and his experience in private practice and as a clerk for the legendary Justice Joseph Maltese, along with his work in the public sector in the Board of Elections and City Council give him an unmatched resume to preside over the Surrogate’s Court.”

The full Richmond County Republican Committee will meet on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at 7PM at the Vanderbilt to make its endorsements. The Executive Board will be conducting interviews for the balance of the remaining offices before that meeting. Any interested candidates should contact Chairman Lantry at [email protected]
