Robert J. ScamardellaRichmond County Republican Party Chairman
Robert J. Scamardella is a life-long Staten Islander who graduated magna cum laude, in 1972, from the College of Staten Island with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. In 1975, he earned his Law Degree from Brooklyn Law School.
He started his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney with the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office where he was the Chief of the Major Offense Bureau. In 1982, he entered private practice and is currently the managing partner of the Staten Island law firm, Russo, Scamardella & D’Amato. He is also a partner in the consulting firm, The Molinari Group, LLC.
Quite active in his profession, Mr. Scamardella has served on the Board of Directors of the Richmond County Bar Association and has chaired its Public Relations and Fee Arbitration Committees. He chaired the Association’s People’s Law School project and is a continuing education lecturer in the area of Commercial and Estate law.
Very active in charitable causes Mr. Scamardella has served as Board Chairmen of the Staten Island YMCA and the Eger Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Greater New York and the College of Staten Island Foundation.
Mr. Scamardella also serves on the Executive Committees of the St George Theatre Restoration, Inc., SINY, Inc., and The Staten Island Children’s Campaign. He is also a member of the Staten Island Sports Hall of Fame Committee.
Active academically, Mr. Scamardella is an adjunct professor of Business Law at Wagner College and has authored a 334 page book on the subject of amateur sports. He is also a staff writer for the Staten Island Advance in a monthly “Point-Counterpoint” series.
Involved politically, Mr. Scamardella is the Chairman of the Richmond County Republican Committee.
He resides in Sunnyside with Gail, his wife of 38 years. He has 2 children. His daughter, Leslie, is an attorney and an associate with her father’s firm. His son, Robert, is the Per-Sessions Director for the Department of Education of the City of New York.
